About Us

Meet Stephanie

​​Stephanie has been serving the Long Island for over 15 years since she began her career in New Jersey and then Nassau County.  Transitioning to practice on the Eastern End of Long Island after the birth of her first child, she has continued to practice law with distinction and integrity while representing her clients needs and best interests.

Stephanie's journey began with an undergraduate education at the University of

of Notre Dame where she graduated with a​​ dual degree in Theatre and Computer Applications.  She then went on to Hofstra University of Law, now known as the Maurice A. Dean School of Law at Hofstra, where she graduated Cum Laude, after serving on the Board of the Student Bar Association and as the Vice President of the Italian Law Students Association.

Immediately following Law School Stephanie clerked for the Honorable Joseph C. Cassini III in the Superior Court of the State of New Jersey.  Upon her completion of her clerkship

Stephanie continued her career in private practice as part of small firm where she eventually left to strike out on her own.  Stephanie is admitted to practice in the State of New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Suffolk County Women's Bar Association and is a past president and current board member of the Suffolk County Columbian Lawyers Association.

Always aware of the Community around her Stephanie also volunteers at the schools of her four children, and has sat on the board of the Long Island Explorium, a local children's museum volunteers with her religious community, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and other community organizations. 


Stephanie Buffa, Esq. is Senior Counsel at Cona Elder Law. Ms. Buffa concentrates her practice in all aspects of  Elder Law, Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Medicaid, and Guardianships. Ms. Buffa's legal skills extend to preparing Wills, Trusts, comprehensive financial planning for Medicaid eligibility, asset protection planning, and representation at Medicaid Fair Hearings. In addition, a significant portion of her practice is devoted to Estate Administration, including probate proceedings, accountings, negotiation of creditor claims, and asset distribution. With over a decade of experience as a private practitioner, Ms. Buffa has developed a robust reputation and become a go-to for appointments by the Guardianship judges, including roles as Court Evaluator in Article 81 Guardianship proceedings. Her responsibilities have included interviewing alleged incapacitated parties, reviewing finances and advanced directives, and handling real estate transactions, such as drafting and negotiating contracts, title clearance, and navigating competing interests. Ms. Buffa's dedication to her profession is further reflected in her active involvement in various professional organizations. She has held leadership roles within the Suffolk County Columbian Lawyers Association, including President and Vice President, and she continues to serve on its Board of Directors presently.
